The Corona virus is very much on many people’s minds, especially those planning overseas travel. I am currently looking into the best insurance options but at the moment it’s very much a work in progress.

Of the European countries Italy seems to face the biggest challenges especially in the region around Milan.

RCS Sport is the organisation that runs the Giro and most of the major Italian Races including Strade Bianche March 7, Tirreno Adriatico March 11-17  and Milan San Remo March 21. RCS announced on Monday March 3 that all three Italian classics will go ahead. A decision on the Giro should be made by the end of March but it is looking more and more likely to go ahead.

It would be extremely unlikely that ASO, organisers of The Tour de France would cancel the world’s biggest annual sporting event. The French government realise that Le Tour is their biggest promotional vehicle and the world would have to go into lockdown before those drastic measures were considered.

Platinum Cycling Tours has made arrangements with the Hotels and Chateau’s in Italy and France that all deposits would be refunded if the Giro or Tour were cancelled. Because of that assurance Platinum Cycling Tours will refund any deposits paid by guests.
